Building The Solo Software Empire
Lessons Going From The Theoretical To The Practical
The previous article around Building A Solo Software Empire described a theoretical state: make a software business legible in repositories, markdown, scripts, infrastructure code, and runbooks, then let a capable coding agent operate inside that system.
It was the factory as a production and control plane of for our deliverables.
GitLab would be the control plane, storing code and docker images, and gated pipelines running deployments. Terraform would define infrastructure. Tailscale and SSH would provide private access. Cloudflare would handle selected public ingress. A secret manager would broker credentials. The agent would work from a terminal.
Then we built it with Agents doing 99% of the coding (no exageration). Everything was done in a loop over a few intensive sessions and me hitting Enter a lot.
